Thinking about those specific scenes in "A Real Pain" where David would wake up before Benji and would just like?? Look at him for a sec before waking him up and how that's probably connected to David talking about how all he thinks when he's around Benji is him od'ing a few months before the trip to Poland.
All he pictures is Benji passed out on his mom's couch.

Beartown
by Fredrik Backman
[Dislcaimer: discussions of fiction SA of a minor]
Originally I found this book searching for stories about SA survivors. While the SA survivor part of the plotline is small, instead focusing on how the town reacts to the trauma, it still has a special place in my heart.
Beartown is a book about a town that’s falling behind. It struggles to keep non-chain buisnesses open. It’s an insulated small town. From the first chapter to the last, there’s a good deal of despair living there but there’s one thing that gives the people hope: their hockey team.
Part of what I like about it is how emersed you feel in the workd. I honestly could not give a shit about hockey but 50 pages in I was very invested in the junior team winning.
It’s a colorful cast and one of those books that has many perspective changes in a short period of time I’ve seen more in fanfiction than in paperback but Backman makes. It. Work.
And fuck is it beautiful.
One tricky thing about it is there is quite a bit of exposition. I found it entertaining but it’s a bit heavy handed at the beginning, just forwarning you.
.
[spoiler]
.
.
.
Funnily enough, by the time the actual SA thing happens on pg 175 it isn’t a surprise. You’d have seen heavy handed foreshadowing for like 5 chapters before. The only surprise is how innocent it starts.
[Disclaimer: I’m not a survivor or exprt on the subject so take my opinion with a grain of salt]
From what I have read, the lead up and the early aftermath felt like it played right with the story straight rather than a soap opra. Very chilling. For a few chapters, I wasn’t sure if I’d have the stomach to read it.
Then, it focused more on how the parents and town were feeling. Less time was spent on how Maya felt and more on how everyone was feeling. It’s to the point that she stops talking like a child and more like an emotional support friend you create in vent fics.
I still love the story, don’t get me wrong, but I kinda wish that Maya was less emotionally supportive of her parent’s “struggle.” Idk, the sudden flip felt a little jarring. Her trying to limit her parents getting hurt made sense but idk..
Rest of the story I liked pretty well. I liked how David (Junior Team Coach) character arc went from no politics on the ice to “maybe.” But also just his relationship with Kevin and Benji is just so heart warming and heart breaking.
Benji is by far my favorite character. I love his personality, and how he brings people together and his unique brand of showing love. There’s one scene when Maya punches and mirror, then Benji hides it by destroying the bathroom.
I love basically everything about how Backman handled Benji but.. I gotta say, there’s always something a little cringy about a writer who has a cast of all straight characters, have the only gay character just be a vehicle for a message and implied to die in the future.
With Maya, she had a bit of spotlight and some time to exist with how the town hurt but Benji I feel…
Honestly, I don’t know how I feel. I mean, it’s accurate how Benji would probably be treated in a town like that but also it has the Hallmark style “oh Peter’s gonna be fired for standing by his daughter and then isn’t.” Like it’s wish fullfillment and awesome so I kinda wish a little extended to Benji.
It’s just a little depressing how everybody is implied to have long lives after this but the one closeted queer guy. If we’re wishing for the best, why not include him too?
In conclusion, awesome to see how sport culture and boys get’s all funky and toxic but also a much needed escape. I loved reading it. Only took me 5 days. Made me give a shit about hockey. I learned alot about writing while reading it.
RIP to the person who put it on hold after me. It’s overdue now lol

I wanted to add in more but couldn’t so I am going to do it this way. Also because I literally just woke up and can barely see I couldn’t see your username at first and thought it said anon. So. Forgive me! I’ve literally been awake for ten minutes now but it’s been great because this messages has been making me smile.
First of all, yes. Because yes. Because everyone is meant for someone so why not have David and Marius together?
Secondly, it makes all the sense in the world that QOTD was able to spring this ship onto the world. That movie was so horrifying that something as dark and twisted as David/Marius makes complete and total sense.
Thirdly, this is so funny to me because l've been thinking about it. Marius and David can be together and live on an island far away from all our resident vampires and be grossly in love together forever never to be seen or heard from again. They can be gross. And nasty. And creepy. But together! Good for them. If they need to stay in contact they can send an email. An email that may or may not be read because their addresses may or may not be blocked!
Let me imagine this. Benji, as the resident little tech vampire, choosing to keep his vibe going and decide hey, we should block these two emails! Definitely block them. And voila, said emails don’t work. And because Lestat is Lestat, he won’t question it because he’s too busy not really understanding emails or podcasts or whatever else and he can go be happily and blissfully ignorant with Louis. Far away from Marius and David.
We will pretend that they can’t all communicate mentally btw. Maybe the island is so far it’s absolutely and completely impossible. So so far away.
And Armand, because he has transcended so high from this, can have his own happily ever after away from his abuser. And he can be as weird as he pleases and Daniel can just smile and pat at his head because how precious is our gremlin? So precious and murderous and crazy and the most special. Armand deserves some blenders for all this wonderful freedom of those two problems.
And Pandora can be her boss ass bitch self.
Omg And Bianca too! Maybe they can chill.
I feel so happy right now. Thank you.
Marius Mishap March haha. The upcoming ides of March has got me feeling some type of way. 🔪

Behind the Scenes of The End of Time (Part 33)
Excerpt from a Dec 2009 Reader’s Digest interview with David Tennant, by Benji Wilson:
“This year we’ve done something different, partly because we’re telling the stories of the end of the Doctor’s time. It is still set at Christmas, but it’s perhaps not got quite as much, er... Christmas cheer as before.”
He sits back, takes a sip of pineapple juice, runs a hand through his hair.  He has a twinkle in his eye, but he’s treading carefully - giving away the plot for his last hurrah would endear him neither to fans nor employers.  Tennant filmed his final episode back in May. “It was a bit sad. The last things I filmed were weird green-screeny things with me hanging on a bit of wire. We’d done all the big emotional stuff before that. I think if we’d done my last scene on my last day I’d have been in a bit of a state, but the moment they called wrap was still quite emotional.”
You’d expect this Doctor to get something extra-special for his efforts, and he did.  David Tennant - and die-hard fans might want to take a seat before reading on - is now the proud possessor of his own sonic screwdriver, the Doctor’s signature gizmo.
“I have one of the real things! There were two; I think I got one that was being sent out to pasture because they only last so long. Phil, the grandmaster of props, presented it in this beautiful box that had the sonic screwdriver and the stethoscope and torch that I used inside.  It was really quite nice.”
This, of course, raises the prospect that Britain’s most recognizable time traveler can now walk the streets with his sonic screwdriver on hand, ready to dazzle awestruck children. I suggest as much. He’s already done it.
“I’ve only used it once to impress a child. If I tell you the story it would sound terribly self-serving. It was a charity thing, but it was quite cool. He was only about five, so it was a nice, wide-eyed moment. I could have the screwdriver on me at any time - I shan’t reveal when. I might do something to your Dictaphone right now.”

Catch Up Meme
I was tagged by @starlene , thank you so much!
Rules: Tag as many people as you want to catch up with or get to know better!
Three ships:
I don't know, I'm not in a very shippy mood at the moment... I guess I'll go with things I've recently seen where I saw a connection between two characters.
* I'm friendship shipping Lyra and Will from His dark materials. I love seeing how they support each other and work so well together. They really have each others backs completely.
* Benji and his sweet emo boyfriend Lukas from Björnstad. Lukas is the complete opposite of the guys Benji spends time with and you can tell it's where he can really let down his guard and be himself.
* And then my fav ships that never really changes... Natalie/Henry, Liz/Josh, Kate/Anne, Lucas/David. I think Lena/Daniel from Så som I himmelen has snuck into that list too... The more I think about their relationship, the more I see how good it really is.
Last songs listened to:
*The morning after from the Björnstad soundtrack
* I'll take lonely tonight by Tim Minchin
* Mountains Crave by Anna von Hausswolff
* Silverhöjd theme from the Jordskott season 1 soundtrack
* Gold Dust by Tori Amos
Currently watching:
I have watched quite a lot of series during the holidays, here's three that each had something special about them.
* Björnstad (Beartown) is a Swedish mini series set in the north of Sweden in a small town where most things and peoples lives are connected to the local ice hockey club. I never thought I would watch a series about ice hockey (since I don't get ice hockey at all) But it's about so much more than hockey. It's really the story about the people of a small town and what happens to them and the whole town when something big and traumatic happens that has connections to the junior hockey team. It sounds a bit vague, but I don't want to give too much away. It's actually the best Swedish TV serie I've seen in a very long time. Swedish TV series usually aren't very good.... There's just something about the direction/script/dialogue that can make a really great actor sound really stiff and unnatural. But this is the complete opposite. This one is very well written, directed and acted. Quite a lot of new faces and people that actually are from the north of Sweden, too. Plus it's shot on location in the north.
* Season 2 of His dark materials. I love the books and the first season was fantastic, so I was so excited about this. Season 2 is even better, it's hard to explain or give an example. I think it's the overall feel, the complete package. I don't want to say too much, because I don't want to spoil it for anyone. But there's so many great characters and they're really, really well casted too. I just love these series so much, they've adapted it really well and just thinking about it makes me smile. Plus, it just looks so good. The scenery, the daemons, the set...
*Us is a serie that I didn't know much about beforehand. I read a short summary about it. It's about a British married couple with a teenaged son (who's about to start university in the fall.) But before that they will spend the summer doing their dream tour of Europe, taking the train and visiting different countries and cities. I didn't have a lot of expectations beforehand. I mostly thought it would be fun to see the cities, seeing places I want to visit, and recognise places where I've been... But I was pleasently surprised. It's a beautiful, funny and sad story about this family. It felt genuine and not over the top or silly/fake. I really enjoyed it. Plus the scenery with pretty European towns is just lovely.
Currently reading:
Lisa och Lilly - En sann kärlekshistoria (Lisa and Lilly - a true love story) by Mian Lodalen. It's a beautifully written (although sad) book about two working class teenage girls in Stockholm and is set between 1910-1911. The girls did exist in real life and it has later been revealed that they were in love and in a relationship, but it was quietened down. I could go on and on about this book and how well written it is and how the characters and Stockholm in the early 1900's is described so well and vibrant that you really feel like you know them and that you're there. I'll stop now, but it's one of my absolute favourite reads. I can't stop thinking about it.
How’s it going:
Okayish, I think. I'm grateful that the store has survived the pandemic (so far) and that I still have a job to go to, back in february-april I wasn't sure of that at all.Happy that I'm healthy and have not gotten the virus. Worried and sad about some things and a bit tired. Missing the theatre, cinema and just sitting at a cafe or a restaurant. But it could be worse...
What are you looking forward to in 2021:
The vaccine and that the pandemic situation will start to turn around.
I'm looking forward to spring. It's a very special feeling when you start to notice that the days are getting longer and brighter and the air just smells so fresh. Spring is such a beautiful season. I don't know if it's because of the pandemic, but I'm more tired than usual of the long, dark and grey winter months. Also, a photographic exhibition that I really want to see is opening where I live during the spring. Hopefully, that won't be cancelled. It's a big space where they can control how many people they let in, so...
If it's possible (but I don't dare to hope too much) I would like to travel somewhere in Sweden to see a musical or two or three...
I love where I live, but I really want to visit another city and see something else even if it's just for a day or two...
I'm not optimistic about overseas travel. But, if it's possible, and this feels very far away at the moment, I would like to go to Finland in the fall to visit @starlene and see a Finnish production of a certain musical with her.
Any new year’s resolutions?
I’m very bad at deciding on new years resolutions and keeping them, so not really...
I tag @miyacantdecide @willowtree221 @amaliatheartist
You can answer as many questions you want:)

The Sunday Times article
DEMON DAZE
After almost 30 years, Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s comic fantasy Good Omens has made it to the screen – and in lavish fashion. Benji Wilson discovers how Pratchett’s dying wish came true
Heaven, as it turns out, is in an industrial park in Weybridge. The old Samsung building, with floor-to-ceiling windows and lighting so bright you have to squint, is the celestial set for Good Omens, the BBC and Amazon’s TV adaptation of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s beloved fantasy novel. The floor, in particular, is attracting attention from Jon Hamm, who plays the angel Gabriel.
“Did we put this floor in?” he asks, wearing a power suit and looking more Wall Street CEO than heavenly host. When he looks down, he sees his own face reflected. “I mean, who orders up a silver floor? Of all the choices.” Then an angel rides by on a hoverboard. “This,” Hamm says, “is insane.”
Much of Good Omens could be described that way. Were he alive, Terry Pratchett would probably delight in the description. It tells the story of an angel, Aziraphale, and a demon, Crowley, played by Michael Sheen and David Tennant respectively. They have been on Earth since the Garden of Eden, working for their opposing teams in heaven and hell, one lighting fires, the other putting them out. Over the centuries, they have become friends.
We first meet them as the Antichrist is being delivered to Earth – indeed, one of Crowley’s missions is to deliver the Antichrist to the maternity ward. But they both realise this means the end of humanity as we know it, and, as Tennant puts it, “Crowley and Aziraphale have quite a nice time on earth. They quite enjoy the dinners and the wine and the lifestyle.”
So they get together to decide they’re going to try to avert the apocalypse. “But it’s a comedy,” Sheen says. “It’s in the vein of Douglas Adams and Monty Python. When Neil sent me the first draft of the script, it reminded me of Whoops Apocalypse [Andrew Marshall and David Renwick’s 1982 ITV comedy set in the weeks leading up to the end of the world.] I remember watching that when I was a kid and finding it funny but also quite scary. It’s hard to know what my 14-year—old self would think of Good Omens, but I imagine it might be similar.”
This kind of tonal mash-up intermingling humanity’s most momentous concerns with the quotidian minutiae of “where did I leave my keys?”, is notoriously hard to pull off. For a start, there’s the scope of it: Good Omens has been in production since mid-2017 and has had to recreate not merely heaven and hell, but all of Christian history in between. The beginning of episode three features a sequence catching up with Aziraphale and Crowley at the Garden of Eden, Noah’s Ark, the crucifixion, ancient Rome, Shakespeare’s Globe, the crucible of the French Revolution and on, via the world wards, to the present. We see their relationship developing down the aeons. It’s all been done in less than 20 minutes.
“It’s basically a collection of single scenes,” Tennant says when I speak to him in a church in an Oxfordshire village. (He’s about to go outside and take delivery of the Antichrist.) “But for one of those scenes we got Shakespeare’s Globe for a day. For another, we transformed St James’s Park into Edwardian England for a day. For one scene. It’s fantastic to be able to work on something that has those sort of resources. You wouldn’t really be able to tell this story otherwise.”
Resources means Amazon’s money. That, and the allure of Gaiman’s writing, has drawn in a supporting cast including Frances McDormand as the voice of God, alongside Hamm, Jack Whitehall, Michael McKeen and Miranda Richardson. With a Game of Thrones-shaped hole to be filled, Good Omens is supposed to be a very big deal indeed.
Yet Gaiman, who co-wrote the original novel, adapted it for the screen and is the showrunner, would happily not have made it at all. “I didn’t really plan to give 18 months of my life to making a TV show. I’d much rather be writing novels. I would be making a lot more money writing novels. Nobody would be telling me what to do and my wife wouldn’t be complaining about not seeing me. But on the other hand, this,” he says, pointing at the shiny floor and Hamm running through lines as Gabriel, “was what Terry wanted to happen. And he’s not here.”
Good Omens was published in 1990. There followed almost 20 years of fruitless attempts to turn it into a film. Terry Gilliam received a prepublication copy of the book asking for a cover blurb. He misplaced the letter that came with it and thought he was being sent a story that might work for his next film. He loved it, but, as so often with Gilliam’s grand visions, Hollywood got in the way.
“Terry [Pratchett] and I decided that we wanted it to be television six years ago,” Gaiman says. “We went went looking for a writer – both of us were too busy – but basically we couldn’t find one.”
Pratchett died in March 2015. As he was overtaken by Alzheimer’s in his final years, he wrote Gaiman a letter – something he had never done before. “He said, ‘You’re the only other person out there with the same love and understanding and passion for this that I have. I know how busy you are, but I want to see this before the darkness takes me. Will you do this, please?’ In 35 years, he’d never asked me anything before. So I said yes. And then he died. So suddenly I was dealing with a last request. And I’m honouring it.”
Gaiman and Sheen have been friends since the actor mentioned in an interview about a decade ago that Gaiman was one of his favourite writers, across novels and comic books. Gaiman happened to read this, and sent Sheen a selection of special editions with a card saying “From one fan to another.” Since then, Sheen has appeared in Gaiman’s episode of Doctor Who, and now stars in Good Omens. Part of their friendship is based on a shared love of science fiction – Sheen only mentioned Gaiman in that interview in order to make a point about genre snobs. Many of his favourite writers, he said, worked in fantasy and SF.
Sheen says the snobbery still pertains - “If you’re of a mindset that anything written in a science-fiction context just can’t be great literature, then I don’t think anything is going to change your mind” - adding that there’s a similar prejudice against comedy as high art.
“Comedy films are always seen as impossible to be great films. They’re rarely winning Oscars. Good Omens ticks both boxes, comedy and fantasy – and I like that. When I was growing up, two of the biggest influences on me in terms of how I see art were The South Bank Show on TV and Kenneth Tynan, especially his profiles. Neither of them made a distinction between high and low art. One week is was Shostakovich , the next Billy Connolly. Tynan would profile Brecht, then Morecambe and Wise. I loved that.”
Just because Good Omens is funny, he goes on, doesn’t mean that it’s glib. “I was looking at a scene today when one of the angels says it’s been written that the end of the world begins with unrest in the Middle East, and the Antichrist is being taken to the Pains of Megiddo. I’ve seen that being written in newspaper articles – Isis are trying to engineer a situation where this battle takes place in a certain location because that’s ‘what was written’. People actually think that Trump is the coming of the Christ. Or the Antichrist. People are actually talking about this in fairly mainstream circles.
“That gives Good Omens a difficult context to when the book came out. You’ve got these two main characters who are very much in their own echo chambers – or should be. Yet the action of the piece requires them to break out of those bubbles.”
Tennant goes further. “We started making this in 2017. We knew it wouldn’t come out until 2019, and did wonder whether the apocalypse might have hastened towards us by then. It does give an added piquancy that the world might not be as stable as we thought it was a couple of years ago. By the time this article is printed, who knows where we’ll be?”
Good Omens is on Amazon Prime Video from May 31 and will air on BBC2 at the end of the year.

TOO GOOD TUESDAY INTERVIEW: Benji Lewis
________________________________________________________________
Australian singer & songwriter Benji Lewis kept busy in 2019 with the release of five new songs which he topped off with the release of his latest song “New Day” in November. The bright and summery song is both original and familiar and shows off his unique sound. Following a busy year, the Melbourne native doesn’t show any signs of slowing in the new year with “New Day” slated to appear on an early 2020 EP titled “Here, Then and Now.” Luckily for Too Good Music, Lewis took some time out of his schedule for an interview. Check out the full interview below to find out more about the new song, how he got his start in music, which five artists he’d listen to for the rest of his life and more!
________________________________________________________________
TOO GOOD MUSIC: Alright, let’s start from the beginning...when did music start for you? When did you decide you wanted to pursue being an artist?
BENJI LEWIS: Ok so I always sang and dreamed of being a singer since I was a child. And I was encouraged and supported by my family who were big lovers of music as well. A few moments come to mind though that guided me and then also a few choices I made myself that got me to this point though. I think I was in year 9 or 10 when I was scouted by a top vocal coach, David Jaanz, here in Melbourne, who encouraged my uniqueness and strengths as a person and artist that I already had. That helped a lot in honing-in on my sound and gave me space to grow confident and share a voice that is my own. It became more serious for me maybe a year after loosing my Mum in 2012. I eventually came back to my music in a serious space and took the steps and made choices to really make a career for myself. Finding my team to work with, creating the music I want to and travelling and seeing the world as well which was always part of the dream I had for myself.

TGM: That’s a great story - having people who believe in you and give the space to create is key and seems to have worked well for you. Speaking of a unique sound, “New Day” has such a refreshing sound. What’s the story behind it?
BL: It was maybe the second or third day of writing for the EP with Sam, A.K.A. Kid Froopy (producer of this song) and he had the start of the beat happening and said he felt this kind of vibe and feeling was maybe something that wasn’t on the EP yet. And he was right, I had been showing some reference songs that were more pop and lifting and light. It felt great. We got to writing and it was done in a few hours. The story that came out from me in the lyrics is about every day being a fresh start. Feeling lighter, looking at each day in a positive light. If you want to go somewhere new, change it up then do it. I was also just grateful for my life and career so it’s about that as well, being grateful and appreciated what and who you do have in your life now. Keep it going and moving in the direction you want, do what makes you happy. Live your life, no regrets.
TGM: So if you could curate your perfect “new day” what would that look like? What would you do?
BL: Funnily enough I was doing this round of I think it was 32 questions with a new friend of mine recently and this came up. What comes to me is being in Paris, sipping on some Aperol and just enjoying that sense of freedom and living life. But I also get that from my family and close friends, being around them. A day at the beach, a few drinks after and some good pizza. As long as I’m feeling free, surrounded by good people and there’s good food I’m pretty happy.

TGM: True - most of the time it doesn’t matter where you’re at or what you’re doing but that you’re surround by people you love. How has growing up in Australia influenced your sound and style?
BL: Hmmm I guess the electronic and chill vibes of the Australian music came into play when it comes to the production and music. But vocally I always brought my own sound to the table. Vocals like Eva Cassidy, Jeff Buckley, Matt Corby, Sade. It was always clear to me that the beauty and rawness of what they did connected with me so much and I would always want to create and make music and songs that touch people like those artists did me.
TGM: Well it’s clear you’ve affected a lot of people with your music already. I saw you posted your Spotify Year In Review for artists – what’s it like when you see numbers like 10.2 million streams and 2.6 million listeners?
BL: It’s pretty insane, yea what can I say. I mean I do think if you put in the work, effort and time you know you get what you give. But I am very lucky and so grateful to all those who are with me and who listen to my music daily.

TGM: That’s a great perspective. What’s a Benji Lewis live show like?
BL: It’s an emotional journey I think, singing about the ups and downs that we all go through in life. When it comes to love or creating the life we want for ourselves. At the moment it’s a 2 man set up, having my live show buddy Allan or Ryan up there with me on the keys and covering the production side of things. While I get to move around a bit more and connect with who’s there in the crowd. I love it though, singing live is special. And seeing people in the crowd swaying or dancing along to your music and singing along is crazy. .
TGM: Who would be your dream collaboration?
BL: I would say there’s a few. A song produced by and written with FINNEAS. A duet collab with Sabrina Claudio. And to do feature vox for MEDUZA or The Chainsmokers.
TGM: Agreed - those would be some killer collaborations. Sort of along those lines, if you could only listen to (5) artists for the rest of your life who would they be?
BL: That is a big question and it would change. But right now I would say. Ariana Grande. Beyonce. Sam Smith. Whitney Houston. Freya Ridings.
TGM: Solid list. It’s a New Year! Any resolutions or goals for the year?
BL: Yes I have had goals and plans in mind leading up to this new year and now some are already in motion and I’m so excited to get into it. It’s about writing really great music with friends and producers who are great at what they do. US and Europe shows. Releasing new music as the year goes while also working towards a new EP or full album.

TGM: Well definitely keep us updated on those US shows! Lastly what else have you got planned for 2020?
BL: Around all things music. I am looking forward to travelling the world and visiting friends all over. I’ll be spending some time in Australia and Los Angeles as usual, visit a close friend in England. Get back to Paris, and check out Colombia. This year feels good.
TGM: Seems like a great year ahead! Congrats on everything and look forward to watching your journey throughout this year and beyond.

Picture Books
Barnett, Mac. The Wolf, the Duck, and the Mouse. (Grades K-2)  This clever picture book begins with a mouse that is quickly gobbled up by a wolf. Fortunately his new accomodations AKA the wolf’s stomach include a duck with kitchenware and jam. The duck states “I may have been swallowed but I have no intention of being eaten.” Award winning illustrator Jon Klassen’s artwork add to the charm of this folkloric tale.
Colleen, Marcie. Love, Triangle. (Grades K-2) Square and Circle have been best friends since they were first created. Triangle arrives on the scene and brings new ideas. Both Square and Circle want to be friends with Triangle which causes a split between the two buddies. This common friendship problem is resolved at the end of this geometric story.
Daywalt, Drew. The Legend of Rock, Paper, Scissors. (Grades K-3) The origins of the classic schoolyard game are explained in hilarious detail. Will Rock, Paper, or Scissors be victorious? Rock is searching for a worthy opponent. Paper leaves the Empire of Mom’s Home Office after conquering the Computer Printer while Scissors defeats Dinosaur-Shaped Chicken Nuggets. Wacky inanimate objects come to life under the expertise of illustrator Adam Rex. Fans of Daywalt’s The Day the Crayons Quit will be equally as charmed by this book.
Denos, Julia. Windows. (PreS-1) In this story, a boy of color dons a read hoodie, leashes his dog and ventures out into the twilight, where the windows are “blinking awake as the lights turn on a neighborhood of paper lanterns”. The reader gets to peer in at the small figures dancing, making dinner or throwing a party and watch as the color of the sky changes. The compositions are rendered in ink, watercolor, letterpress and digital collage. The narrative ends with a story shared and a snuggle. Readers will want to revisit this story over and over. Everyday routine turned to wonder on an evening walk filled with discovery.
Dykman, Ame. Read the Book, Lemmings! (PreS-2) Another delightful collaboration by the team behind Wolfie the Bunny and Horrible Bear! Lemmings don’t jump off cliffs. It says so in the book that Foxy is reading. However, the three lemmings on the boat have not read the book and keep jumping into the water. After trying unsuccessfully to get the lemmings to read the book, Foxy realizes he is going to have to actually teach the lemmings to read before he can stop them. A funny read aloud! Children will love this book at storytime and at home.
Jory, John and Benji Davies. Come Home Already! (PreS-3) The third hysterical picture book about Duck and Bear, unlikely pals. In this book, an excited Duck wants to hang out with Bear but Bear has left to go fishing for a whole week on his own. Bear is relieved to have some time alone. What will Duck do while Bear is gone? How will he survive without his best friend?
Lamothe, Matt. This is How We Do It: One Day in the Lives of Seven Kids from Around the World. (Grades K-3) Seven children from Italy, Japan, Uganda, Russia, India, Iran, and Peru describe one day in their lives as they eat, play, and learn. An author’s note, a glossary, a map, and photographs of the families are included at the end of the book. This is an informational picture book that could be used in a social studies unit.
Shannon, David. Bizzy Mizz Lizzie. (Grades 1-3)  Lizzie is the busiest, buzziest bee in Hivetown. She longs to impress the Queen by winning a spelling bee contest, but she studies to the point of exhaustion on top of trying to juggle all of her other activities. When she dozes off in the middle of the competition, the only solution is rest. Lizzie finally learns to stop and smell the flowers. A book with a good message and wonderful illustrations will appeal to young readers.
Tsurumi, Andrea. Accident! (PreS-2) When a little armadillo named Lola knocks a jug of red juice all over her family’s white sofa, she flees to the library to hide. But as Lola run through town, she is joined by many others who have also made a mess and want to hide at the library too, avoiding conflict. Fun and colorful illustrations are found throughout the book and children will be drawn to the intricate details. This book teaches that a mistake can happen due to thoughtlessness, carelessness or bad luck and that it is ok to call it an accident but also necessary to “make it better” and “own up to it.”
Easy Readers
LaReau, Kara. The Infamous Ratsos are Not Afraid. (Grades 1-2) Brothers Louie and Ralphie Ratso plan to clear out an abandoned lot in their neighborhood and create an arcade. The problem is that the house next to the vacant lot might be haunted. This is the second book in the series that began with the Geisel Honor Book, The Infamous Ratsos.
Shea, Bob. Ballet Cat: What’s Your Favorite Favorite? (Grades 1-3) Ballet Cat and her cousin Goat are preparing a show for grandma and both want to prove that they are the best. Ballet Cat will come up with a fancy dance routine and Goat will perform tricks at his magic show. Which one will be her FAVORITE favorite? Terrifically fun third entry in this series.
Snyder, Laurel. Charlie & Mouse & Grumpy. (Grades K-1) This picture book/easy reader hybrid is the sequel to Charlie and Mouse. Charlie and Mouse are brothers who are spending time with their grandfather AKA Grumpy. In four short chapters, the trio discuss what it means to be “medium”, enjoy a special night while the boys’ parents go out, and choose the proper goodnight song.
Yoon, Salina. That’s My Book! and Other Stories. (Grades K-1) Big Duck, Little Duck, and Porcupine are a sweet trio of friends that find the best use for books, plan a talent show, and dress like a pirate. The latest addition to the Duck, Duck, Porcupine series contains three short chapters with bold text in large speech bubbles.
Juvenile Fiction
Bartok, Mira. The Wonderling. (Grades 4-6) Number 13 is a groundling (half human/half animal) who lives in an orphanage run by Ms. Carbunkle. He is named Arthur by a fellow groundling when he saves her. The pair of new friends escape the “Home” and set off on an adventure full of danger, magic, and mystery. Fans of Erin Hunter’s Warriors series will enjoy this lengthy fantasy novel.
Bradley, Kimberly Brubaker. The War I Finally Won. (Grades 4-6)  Picking up right after 2015’s Newbery Honor book The War That Saved My Life, this very worthy sequel continues the story of Ada, her brother Jamie, and their guardian Susan. Set against the backdrop of World War II (which is felt much more immediately in this novel), Ada struggles to deal with the aftermath of years of abuse by her mother. An emotional, yet rewarding book for fans of the first book or for readers who love excellent historical fiction.
Broach, Elise. Trouble at School for Marvin & James. (Grades 1-2) This is the third book in the Masterpiece Adventures series featuring best friends, James and Marvin. James is a human and Marvin is a small black beetle. James decides to bring Marvin to school so he can experience James’ art class taught by beloved teacher, Mr. Chang. Mr. Change has blue hair and often quotes, “There are no mistakes, only happy accidents.” Marvin enjoys school until a sneeze separates him from James. This book is an excellent choice for new chapter-book readers.
Clements, Andrew. The Losers Club. (Grades 3-6) Alec loves to read -- so much so that it gets him in trouble at school and at home. Even the head of the afterschool program at his school says he can’t just sit around by himself and read; he has to join a club. So Alec comes up with a plan to create his own reading club, which he names The Losers Club to deter other kids from joining. His bright idea backfires when it turns out to be the most popular club at school. There are tons of great books referenced throughout, and there’s a helpful list at the back of the book for bookworms who want to read them all!
DeStefano, Lauren. The Girl with the Ghost Machine. (Grades 4-6) Emmaline Beaumont was 10 years old when her mother died; two years later, her father remains so consumed with grief that it’s almost as if Emmaline has lost both parents. In a desperate attempt to bring his wife back, Monsieur Beaumont tinkers with his “ghost machine” night and day. When Emmaline’s attempt to destroy the machine doesn’t go as planned, she and readers are left wondering if precious memories of loved ones are worth trading for the chance to interact with them one more time. Emmaline’s twin best friends, Oliver and Gully, represent the push and pull between hope and logic that plagues Emmaline and offers her new ways of understanding grief. Readers should be prepared for heaviness and sadness throughout. A story of loss, friendship, and resilience.
Farrer, Maria. Me and Mister P. (Grades 2-5) Arthur is tired of his younger brother Liam’s behavior. He can’t even watch television with volume since it upsets his brother. Arthur decides to run away from home but he meets a friendly polar bear named Mister P. who alters his plans. Mister P. helps Arthur accept his brother’s differences. This quirky story is bibliotherapy for siblings of children with autism as well as a good read for children who like fantastical animal stories.
Krishnaswami, Uma. Step Up to the Plate, Maria Singh. (Grades 3-5) Maria Singh lives with her family in Yuba City, California during WWII. Most of the community members are adha-adha (half and half) with fathers from India and mothers from Mexico. Maria’s teacher forms a softball team which Maria wants to join but she is not sure if her father will let her. Maria and her family struggle against discrimination from kids and adults.
Middleton, Dana. Open If You Dare. (Grades 4-6) For Birdie and her best friends, Ally and Rose, the joy of finishing elementary school is overshadowed by their dread of summer’s end. With Rose unwillingly moving back to England, and Ally and Birdie attending different middle schools, their long, close friendship is coming to an end. In the meantime, Ally deals with problems on and off the pitcher’s mound, while Birdie follows the trail of mystery, and Rose rebels against her parents in a creative, yet destructive way. The story is set in Atlanta with well-drawn individuals from different generations. Tween issues are addressed from first crush to first steps toward independence. A rewarding chapter book.
Morris, Chad. Mustaches for Maddie. (Grades 4-6) Maddie is a 12 year old girl who has a big imagination. When she is diagnosed with a brain tumor, she faces surgery and possible negative outcomes from the operation. She also faces middle school friendships and even jealous classmates with humor and bravery. Maddies loves fake mustaches so her supporters wear them. This book is based on the authors’ daughter and will appeal to readers who liked Wonder by R.J. Palacio.
Pennypacker, Sara. Waylon! Even More Awesome. (Grades 2-4) A Clementine series spin off which features another likeable kid. Waylon and Baxter are classmates who have to share a dog who lives in a shelter. The two boys can not be more different. While Waylon loves everything about science and following rules, Baxter is always in trouble and close to being a juvenile delinquent. When their dog, Dumpster Eddy, is going to be thrown out of the shelter he is living in, the boys come up with a plan to save him. A book about friendship, family, perseverance and hard work make this a wonderful book for reluctant readers.
Schlitz, Laura. Princess Cora and the Crocodile. (Grades 1-3) Princess Cora never has a moment to play or relax as her parents, the King and Queen, are constantly training her to be perfect. She writes a desperate letter to her fairy godmother asking for help. A pet crocodile arrives the next day and he impersonates Cora so she can have a day off. Caldecott Medalist Brian Floca’s illustrations add to the humor of this story.
Swanson, Matthew. The Real McCoys. (Grades 3-5) Moxie McCoy is a fourth grade detective who faces her biggest challenge yet in this fun chapter book. When someone kidnaps beloved school mascot Eddie the Owl, Moxie is on the case-but she is forced to solve this new mystery on her own since her best friend, and fellow detective, has moved away. Moxie finds clues and points fingers but she needs help to find the owl mascot. Enter Milton, Moxie’s smart little brother. Can the real McCoys solve the crime of the century?
Wilson, Amy. The Lost Frost Girl. (Grades 4-6) A modern day fairy tale about a girl who discovers that she is Jack Frost’s daughter. Owl is a twelve year old girl with a quirky mom, a dad she has never met, a cool best friend named Mallory and a boy who gives her weird looks at school. When she finds out that Jack Frost is her father, she is determined to meet him and delves into Jack’s wonderful and wild world of winter. She realizes she is part human/part fay and has special powers of her own. A tale of family, friendship and magic and embracing who you are meant to be.
Zemke, Deborah. The Curse of Einstein’s Pencil. (Grades 2-3) This second story about Bea Garcia will appeal to fans of Judy Moody. Bea is initially excited when the smartest girl in school, Judith Einstein asks her to be a partner in the geography contest. Then Bea wonders if the secret to Judith’s intelligence is her pencil. Bea takes Judith’s pencil when it rolls on the floor but the effect on her life and friendship is not what she expected.
Graphic Novels
Hale, Shannon and Pham, LeUyen. Real Friends. (Grades 3-6) Shannon Hale, author of the bestselling Princess in Black series, debuts her first graphic novel: a memoir of her childhood friendships from kindergarten through sixth grade. Friends, rivals, and frenemies drift in and out of Shannon’s life, but her mean older sister remains a constant menacing presence. Readers will find much to relate to: neighborhood friends who move away; the dread of finding out that all of your friends have been assigned to another teacher. Hale as an adult narrates the story with a welcome perspective, acknowledging when she herself was a bad friend or seeing the dynamics of a situation more clearly in hindsight. Fans of Raina Telgemeier will love this.
Jamieson, Victoria. All’s Faire in Middle School. (Grades 4-8) From Victoria Jamieson, who won a Newbery Honor for Roller Girl, comes another middle grade graphic novel. Imogen has been homeschooled her whole life; her world revolves around the local Renaissance Faire where her parents work. But now she’s ready for her biggest challenge: middle school. Imogen’s unconventional background makes it difficult for her to fit in, but is she willing to do what it takes to conform? Recommend to fans of Raina Telgemeier.
Siegel, Mark. The Sand Warrior. (Grades 3-5) The Five Worlds is a galaxy of five planets filled with different species. Oona Lee teams up with An Tzu, a boy from the poorest slums, and Jax Amboy, a lonely star athlete. They discover that they may be able to light five ancient beacons and save the Five Worlds. Hand this fantasy story to fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender and the Amulet series.
Biography
Guglielmo, Amy and Tourville, Jacqueline. Pocket Full of Colors. (Grades K-4). Mary Blair is remembered today as one of the greatest and most influential Disney animators, but at the time, her use of color was considered “too vivid, too wild.” When her all-male colleagues at Disney reject her ideas, she strikes out on her own, where she finds huge success as an illustrator and set designer following her own vision. Finally, Walt Disney himself asks her to come back; she’s the only one he will trust to design the now-classic ride It’s a Small World. Gorgeous brightly-colored illustrations evoke Blair’s distinctive style. An author’s note is included at the end of the book.
Meltzer, Brad. I am Sacagawea. (Grades 1-3) Sacagawea’s story is the latest addition to the Ordinary People Change the World best-selling biography series. Sacagawea was the only Native American to join Lewis and Clark’s expedition. Children will learn about the traits that made Sacagawea a trailblazer and the significant contributions she made to the world. A timeline and photos are included at the back of the book. Christopher Eliopoulos’ illustrations reflect his origins in the comic industry. He recreates lively scenes from Sacagawea’s life.
Rosenstock, Barb. Vincent Can’t Sleep. (Grades K-2) This picture book biography of Vincent Van Gogh explores his life especially his troubles with insomnia. He had trouble sleeping as a child, an adolescent, and as an adult in the hospital. The text is short but lyrical while the illustrations in acrylic, pen, and watercolor reflect the night sky and his iconic work, The Starry Night. An author’s note and sources are included at the end of the book.
Nonfiction
Burcaw, Shane. Not So Different. (Grades 1-3). Shane was born with a degenerative muscle disease, and he’s never been able to walk. People always seem to ask him the same ten questions, like “How do you eat?” or “Why is your head so big?” Answers to these and more are accompanied by funny photographs. Through Shane’s funny and frank stories--he once broke his expensive motorized wheelchair by using it to lift his brother to dunk a basketball--readers will learn that they’re not so different from him after all. A nice introduction to disability for younger kids.
Burns, Loree Griffin. Life on Surtsey: Iceland’s Upstart Island. (Grades 4-7) In 1963, an underwater volcano off the coast of Iceland erupted, creating a new island formed from rock and ash. Scientists realized they could use this new island to study how life takes hold in a new environment. What are the first plants to grow on the bare rock? When and how do birds, insects, and other animals arrive? The book follows a team of scientists who return to the island every year to study the changes; full-color photographs document their journey and the changing island landscape. It’s a great introduction to how scientists really work, full of details that kids will love. (On a deserted island, how do you go to the bathroom?) A glossary and bibliography are included at the end of the book.
Chin, Jason. Grand Canyon. (Grades 3-5) Some may think of the Grand Canyon as just a “big hole in the ground,” but through gorgeous and detailed illustrations, Chin reveals the complex ecosystem it hosts and what it tells us about our geological past. As a father and daughter hike through the canyon, the reader learns more about what makes each level of the canyon unique. Die-cuts reveal fossils in the modern-day, and when readers turn the page, they are transported back millions of years, to what the landscape looked like when each fossil was formed. Further scientific information, an author’s note, and sources are included at the end of the book.
Eggers, Dave. Her Right Foot. (Grades 3 and up) A beautifully illustrated book about the history of the iconic statue along with humor and interesting trivia during the first part of the book. The second part of the book talks about the statue’s feet and how the back of her right foot is actually lifted as if she is going somewhere. No one ever seems to talk about the fact that the statue of liberty is walking; she is on the move. If the statue of liberty is a symbol of freedom, if the statue of liberty has welcomed millions of immigrants to the United States, then how can she stand still?
Harris, Chris. I’m Just No Good At Rhyming. (Grades 3-8) Fans of Shel Silverstein, Ogden Nash, or Jack Prelutsky will enjoy this volume of humorous poetry for kids. Lane Smith’s hilarious illustrations add to the fun.
Rose, Deborah Lee. Beauty and the Beak. (Grades 3-5) An Alaskan bald eagle lost most of her beak after a poacher shot her. She was unable to eat, drink, or preen without her beak. The eagle later named Beauty was sent to the care of biologist Veltkamp at a raptor center in Idaho. Since Beauty’s beak did not regenerate, Veltkamp enlisted the help of a dentist and an engineer. Together they fashioned a beak for Beauty using a 3-D printer. This nonfiction animal rescue story has similaries to stories by the Hatkoffs including Winter’s Tail.
Roy, Katherine. How To Be An Elephant. (Grades 3-6) A stunning look at how a newborn elephant matures into a capable member of the herd. This book emphasizes how an infant elephant learns through her family herd an array of skills that are necessary to keep up; from learning to walk and swim right away, projecting her voice, using her nose to eat and smell and keeping cool with her large ears. Large illustrations of calves with their herd are interspersed with captivating diagrams and smaller images work well together. A carefully researched book and a must have for all elementary school collections.

Facing lawsuit: Tom Cruise in Mission:Impossible - Ghost Protocol. Credit: David James There wasn't much interest in the script initially, but McLanahan alleges it was then shown, without his.
Dec 21, 2011 Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol is the film Michael Bay always wanted to make but never had the ability to with a perfect pace, eye-popping spectacle and enough smarts to keep us engaged. By the end, it's no longer a matter of wondering why Brad Bird felt he could direct the film, but instead one of wondering why he took so long to get here.
Mission Impossible 4 Ghost Protocol Wikipedia Indeed, the last 'Mission: Impossible' from 'Alias' and 'Lost' creator J.J. Abrams was then easily the best of the series- though all that positive word about it couldn't quite triumph the bad press surrounding its star and producer Cruise's erratic behaviour.

Who lost it, you? - Agent Hanaway. - Where is Hanaway? It was a little drop . classified file. It should've been a simple intercept. They knew, which train the courier was on. ETA 2 minutes on the courier. - But there is one thing we didn't know. - Wild Cat. your train six minutes at. Who the courier was. Now or never, Bob Cap. Hurry! Who's delivering the file, what's his name? - Go ahead, shoot. - We're out of time. I need a name, folks. You can't track all these people at once. Aargh, Marek.Stefanski. And she left him just alive enough for me to see him die. I'm sorry. - You know her? - Sabine Moreau. Contract killer. Works for diamonds. Who is in the file? Russian nuclear launch codes. IMF's been looking for emerging extremist, codenamed Cobalt . He's determined to detonate a nuclear weapon however he can. We know Moreau works for him before. What else did IMF know about him? As much as you do now. But if Moreau has nuclear launch codes, you can bet Cobalt's confirmed person of interest to enemy number one . We're here. - Agent confirmed. - Why was he in prison? He disobeyed. After he and his wife . you know. I thought he just been transferred. Or on leave. There were rumours then. to work on the unsanctioned hit. Welcome back, Mr. Hunt. In your absence, IMF has learnt that Cobalt is, or was, a level one nuclear strategist for Russian Intelligent. Therefore, the only way to uncover his actual identity is to infiltrate the Kremlin itself. In order to get passed their checkpoints, you'll be impersonating General Anatoly Fedorov. We believe Cobalt will do everything he can to destroy any record of his identity. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to penetrate the highly secured archive inside the Kremlin. And retrieve Cobalt's file, before he can destroy it. New intel suggests Cobalt is already in route, leaving you. 4 hours 52 minutes to infiltrate. To save time, we've chosen your team for you. Agent Carter and Dunn. As always, should you or any member of your team, be caught or killed. The Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This message will self-destruct in 5 seconds. Good luck, Ethan. What do you got? We're going into the Kremlin. I thought you said 'the Kremlin.' I thought you said 'the Kremlin'. Okay. This is very exciting. Being on the field . with you, you know. It's a bit of a dream . for me. I love your disguise by the way. You look just like him. It's a shame would wear a masks. You know like a full masks. Everybody get to wear a mask, but Benji. Sorry. I'm dead. I babbled when I am nervous. When doing it again, shut up it. Okay, settle secure to go, that's x-ray machines, cameras. metal detectors. Just what we expected. We can do this. Releasing in three, two, one. Going fast, going fast, Kremlin going fast. Mr. General. I am Major Yegorov. Show me the documents, please. Don't you think I am? It's not found. Try it again, Major . . Yegorov. Excuse me, General. I did not recognize. You should be kicked out, Major Yegorov. I think might not going well. - Relax. - Sorry. I'm sorry, by the way . About you and Julia. You know . not working if i may . I wanted to say something before you ran away but I,.I liked it. here, he's off the phone now. It's empty. The disks are empty. Check in, team leader. Over. Repeat, check in, team leader. Have you made it to the archive room? Captain, one is in the archive! Someone is pickybacking our frequency. But we both know, that there'll cause of the explosion was you. Awaiting your go sign, Team leader. Standing by to detonate. The worst part for you, team leader. is I'm the man assigned to make you suffer for it, for what you did to my country. This is clinic, not a bar. Stop looking at me. Misha, help me with him. Quick! I think you're proud to have survived. I have a few questions I would ask them. Watch where you walk! - Go and get my car. - Okay. Look there! Not a good idea. Seem like one . a minute ago. What are you doing? Damn! I can not believe it. All units, we have a fugitive. He took her to the west. Insolidated insurance. How may I help you? Search 20. Agent A2 delta echo requesting immediate 'evac'. Rendezvous Alpha 1-1-3. Confirmed. Alpha 1-1-3. Anna, Anna, Anna. I told myself . We should leave town for a couple of days. Alex, you, me. Vacation. - Now? - Tonight. Who we will go, father? just, just the three of us. Where will we go? Leonid? (news) .has been transported to anear hospital for treatment. While Russian Officials continue to blame a gas main break. Experts has citing the shape of the blast area, and the size of debris field is more consistent with anonymous sand explosive. Any speculations may have been an undeclared act of aggression. Although the Defence Ministry is maintaining that this is strictly an accident. Anna, pack a bag for Alex. We're leaving now. Anna. Anna. We have work to do. Mr. Secretary. There's in no way you're in Russia. I'm not. Not since a bomb blew up the Kremlin. Yesterday I flew in to accept the order of friendship from Russian Prime Minister. Now I'm headed back to Washington, to hand the President my resignation. My chief analyst, William Brandt. - A pen - Pardon me? - A pen. Here. Ethan, what happened in the Kremlin? Chief analyst you say? - I'm implying that I made about a call . - Europian male. Fifties, about 6 foots, 180 pounds, blue eyes. Who is he? Crude drawing, but by your description. . that could be Kurt Hendricks. Professor of Physics, Stockholm University Specialist in nuclear and game theory. Asked to resign . . Well, because he's crazy. Cobalt. You have to allert the Kremlin that one of their strategist has a nuclear launch device. And what if his operative has the code activated What makes you say that? I saw him. Leaving the executive armory bag in hand, he set off that explosion to cover his tracks. It maybe weeks before the Russians know it's missing. - Unless we tell them. - They won't listen to us. As far as the Russian has concerned, we just bombed the Kremlin. Tension between United States and Russia, hasn't been this high since the Cuban Missile Crisis. And the blame, right or wrong, points to IMF. President has innitiated Ghost Protocol. The entire IMF has been disavowed. So what's happened now? Now I've been ordered to take you back to Washington. Where D.O.D will labelled you as rough extremist, and hang the Kremlin bombing on you and your team. Unless . . you were to escape somewhere between here and the airport airing on assaulted Mr. Brandt and me. Sir? You will then illegally scrounge whatever material you could from backup supply cash. that I've overlooked the same cash. - .for your team awaiting for further orders. - Sir, you may wanna read . You will then disappeared. And this conversation never having taken place. but your intention would be unclear. But if anyone of your team is caught or killed, they will be branded terrorists, out to incite a global nuclear war. Your mission. Should you choose to accept it. Ethan, you're my best man. And I'm sorry it's come to this, after all the sacrifices you've made. We don't meet again, I just want you to know . I will always consider you a friend . Stay down. Drive, drive, drive! - Are you okay? - Yes. Take deep breaths, stay with me. - ready? - yes What do we do? Wait here. Where else to might I go? Hey! hey, hey, hey. There! Stop! Hold your fire! Hold your fire! Enough! Perhaps more are still alive. Today, in a nearby prison two inmates escaped. Who is this? What we know about him? Why would that work? - Why what work? - The flare on the body. - What watt were they work? - They did work. - Yeah, I know that. - Hey! - But why? - I mean, how did you know that would draw their fire? - I didn't. I played a hunch. okay? All right. What was your scenario? Right, there was a guy being shot at the water. All the sudden, such a light out of a flare, turn around? I mean, what you assume maybe thinking - thinking? - yeah. I didn't assume they were thinking. I assumed they were shooting at anything to move and that just give them a target. But these . These guys are not schollars, you know? - This is really happening, isn't it? - Yeah. - Okay. You know what that sound is? - It's our ride out of here. Our ride's green car, with 47. I see three. Okay, Let's do it! go, go, go, go! - All right. Forty-seven. - I don't see it. - Forty seven. Oh shit! This is it. Where's the pass? Enter your code. Press ENTER. Retinal scanner. Retinal scan required. Watch out. Retinal scan required. Agent confirmed. Ethan? Geez, I thought you were died. - We are. - Who's this? Agent. Dunn and Carter. William Brandt, chief analyst. Analyst. Agent confirmed. Power of the world finally end. It is my job to predict the unthinkable. To treat the death of billions as a game. After 20 years of this, I was none. Until a new question crossed my mind. What happens after the end of the world? Are you sure your line is secure? Every 2 or 3 million years . Are you certain your line is secure? . some natural catastrophy devastates all life on earth. But life goes on. And what little remain is made stronger. Put simply world destruction, isn't unpleasant. .but necessary part of evolution. What happens then, I wondered. When mankind faces the next end of the world. I don't care what you have to do, to get him to Dubai. I'll make you worse as well. Just do it. - I look to Hiroshima, Nagasaki. - Well, I'll be waiting for your call. Thriving cities, rebuilt from the ashes. Monuments to unimaginable dedicated to the concept of peace. It's occured to me here, that nuclear war. might have a place in the natural order. But only if it could be controlled. Only if attached every living song equally. IMF and I believe this man, Kurt Hendricks, is a nuclear extremist. Codename, Cobalt. Today he was seen leaving the Kremlin, that would most likely a nuclear launch device. A few days ago, Sabine Moreau killed one of our agents in Budapest. We believe him off Russian nuclear launch code. Intel indicates she would check in the Burj Hotel in Dubai in 36 hours. Mariusz Wistrom is known operative of Cobalt. Wistrom is currently on route to Dubai. For the launch device to work, Cobalt needs the activation codes. He's sending Wistrom, to buy them from Moreau. The Secretary is dead. The President has invoked Ghost Protocol. We're shut down. No satellites, safehouse, support or extraction. The four of us . . and the content of this car are all that remain of the IMF. And as if this moment any actions are unsanctioned. So if you want out, speak now. Our mission is Hendricks. We're all distance between him and his goal, nothing can be left to chance. Everyone connected with this man is considered an asset with valuable information about our target. No one can know we're still online. We lose Hendricks now, we lose him forever. So, what's the plan? Wistrom will take delivery from Moreau in 36 hours. Now we can not let the launch codes leave the hotel. But we need Wistrom to lead us to Hendricks. Yeah, we only do that if he has the codes - Or if he thinks he has it. - Objective. . . is to intercept the sale. Place the authentic codes with counterfeits. - and follow Wistrom to Hendricks. - Well, that's, that's simple enough. We just, we snatch the codes, we generate some fakes. Jane, you double Moreau and sell the codes to Wistrom. And bob your ankle. And how do you propose, that we just snatch the code from Moreau? You take her out. Yeah, we take her out,but you know, discreetly. - Discreetly? - Yeah. - Right, she's an asset. - Right. I get it. Sorry. Nothing left to chance, he said. I'm just, I'm a spit bowling. You know, it's not all gonna be go. - We don't touch Wistrom. - All right. -.or Moreau. As you asked for Hanaway, but it has to be when I say. After we had Hendricks. - Only pack what we need. - Yeah absolutely. Only pack what we need. You never know. DUBAI So even if we can double Wistrom and Moreau, How do we keep them in separate rooms, Or having they think they are in the same room? We give the hotel a facelift. Wistrom will think he's arriving at Moreau's suite. But really, he will be walking into our decoy room. Where I'll double Moreau. Downstairs Benji will double Wistrom. - a masks! - And meet with real Moreau. And eh, huh, What am I doing? You? You're the helper. Help . okay. So, to the extent understand what are you talking about here . uhm, Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. And you want to alter its infrastructure, with the hopes of convincing two people that they had a meeting, which actually really never happened . Right? Camels. ETA on dry cleaning. I'm on my way out. Okay, 34 minutes to doorknock. wow,. ehm, okay. this, this is a slight wrinkle,. nothing, nothing to worry about. We're just gonna have to go into server room, from the outside. - What? - Well, the firewalls in this building serve a military grade. I mean, this would be a synched if I could call Yusuf back at headquarter, but Yusuf doen't exist anymore, and neither do we. I could hack it, but it would take too long. Their hardware in. And there's four layers of an exchange security because not in server-in. and there is no way we can get into it from inside. If we can't get through the server, we don't control the elevators, we don't control security cameras. This operation is over even before it begins. I'm telling you we can get to it from outside. We? I'm, I'm on the computer. I'm just a . the helper. - What floor is it now? - 130. - Vent out? - pressure's unstiff. don't have enough time. - Elevator shaft. - infrared sensors. don't have enough time. How am I suppose to do this? Dammit! Oh, that's high. Okay, now remember, it's a rolling off motion, that disengages the bond. When the emitter is blue, that's full adhesion. Easy way to remember. 'Blue is glue.' - And when it's red? - Dead. ah, here's your cutter, okay? And your server interface. Both going back here. One, two. Okay Ethan, holds-all service, 11 stories up and 7 units over. Okay? - Com check? - Yeah, copy. So . It's 26 minutes to doorknock. Yeah . What the hell is that? Hell, what the hell is that? It's a sandstorm. It's a long way off, Ethan. There's shouldn't be a problem. Where is Ethan? You gotta be kidding me. I'm in the server level. Your countdown is not helping. I'm just saying. - I'm in. - That's great, Ethan. You're half way home. Located server. Please tell me we're online. All right, we're live. Okay, now I have control of the elevators. - And the security cameras. - Time to evacuate. Okay. You drive, and look out for Wistrom and Moreau. Moreau is at the elevator. It has resceduled. Go. - We can't open this door, can we? - That door? No. Ethan you gotta get down here now. Ethan. Ethan. Is there a problem? Ethan? - We're not gonna make it. - We have to make it. Where is Ethan? - Your line is not long enough! - No, shit! That was not easy, but I, I did it. What I missed? The lense might be a little uncomfortable. It captures images and transmits them to the printer in the briefcase. - All right? - hmm. I can't see, one eye right of it, fine. Blinks twice to activate the shutter. Notice, the numbers are in order. A perfect copy. But the numbers are scrambled. Masks? ah, 60 seconds. Are you sure that I shouldn't wear a mask? You know, cause I'm not exactly Omar Sharif. I'll play a french. This is you tracking device. - This is what you're tracking. - paper clip? No, it's a paper. It's in the briefcase. It's caught to be isotops, which should give a unique . - It just means that you can track documents, even if they switch briefcases. - Range? - Not that good, like a half a mile (800 meters). Safest thing to do not let Wistrom out of your sight. Is that Wistrom? Who's out with him? - I don't know. - We don't have an uplink, so there's no facial recognition. Who's out with him? That's Leonid Lisenker. Polish phone cryptographer. He redesigned Russia's nuclear security at the Cold War. He set off to authenticate the launch codes. - yeah shit, we are blown. - No, no, no. Well, we'll would be as soon as he sees the counterfeit launch codes. - We're not alone. - He's in the elevator. Delay it. Benji, how long would take it reprogram the case? Ah, a couple seconds. Wow, What for that? - To make an exact copy of the launch codes. - What?! - You can't do that. - Wistrom's on 22. - Slow him down. - I do what I can. wait, wait, Ethan! Hey! Hang on now, hang on, just a second! You, you're talking about handing over active nuclear launch code to Wistrom? - the case, reprogram the case. - Listen, listen, stop! Listen, listen. You're saying you're fixating, you're thinking clearly. Listen, that's not gonna happened! - I won't allow it. - 33, and climbing. Brandt, use your head. The mission is not the code, the mission is Hendricks. And this little play out, give him back codes neutralize it. You know that won't do it. Failure to a terrorist. .just a rehearsal for success. We lose Hendricks today, he shows up somewhere else tomorrow. He finds another way. With no IMF to stop him. Now, it's now or never. Now hand me the case. Nothing left to chance. You said that ! You're the analyst. Now tell me. .there's another way for Hendricks to get those codes. - 50! You tell me that this is only happened right here, right now. Today! You tell me that, I'll walk away. - We go without! - Without masks? - Changes to go. - Ethan! - We have no choice. - Ethan, you will be walking on Moreau unarmed. - Face first. Literally. - How do we know they've met? - How do we know they haven't? - It doesn't matter! Damn! We have no choice. Goggles. What if they have met? Come in. Which of one you is Wistrom? Which one of you is Wistrom? I am. I admire your work. Sit. Where are my codes? Where are my diamonds? close by. - You have my payment? - When I see the codes. Not to worry. Come in! I thought we could have tea. Madam moiselle. Misseur. No diamonds, no codes. No codes, no diamonds. - Kill this one! - We didn't came alone. That hole I lay out there is killbox. - You know who we work for. - We come back for its codes, or we don't come back. - How good is your backup ? - The best. Kill them the best. Do you care for some sugar? Enough. Let's get this done. You want payment? I want guarantees. When he's authenticated the codes, I'll make a call and get your diamonds. That, or . We alll go home in buckets. Nobody leaves this hotel alive. Get the papers . - Is there a problem? - It's locked. Ah, forgive me. There must be a key. For momento. Misseur. My mistake. It is a combination. Not a key. You tell me the numbers! We're good. Zero zero zero Come on, come on, come on, came on, came on. It was a pleasure doing business with . Wistrom has launch codes and he's on the move. Hey, I did what you asked, I did! - Now let my family go. - Release Leonid's family. - Thank God! - You can thank me in person. It was a pleasure doing business with you. Kill him! Moreau's on the move! I've got her. Jane, she's an asset. I need her alive. Acknowledge! Acknowledge! Ah, Ethan, Wistrom is in the elevator. I can't see Leonid there. Benji, slow it down. Give me an elevator. I'll handle it. Benji, I got a lot call of Wistrom, but I can't tell. Is he still in the elevator? - Wistrom . elevator . - Benji? - Ethan, over! - Benji. Benji, I lost. Ethan, can you hear me? Ethan, can you hear me? over! Geez! - Watch her! - Why, why me? If I'd do it, I'll kill her. Hold it, Team Leader. Do you really think I wouldn't catch up of you? You and I are not enemies. It was a setup. We'll find out your lies soon enough. Move it! I'm sorry about this. Leonid! - Benji? - Cover Benji! I've got Leonid by the elevator, he's been shot. What? Hey, hey, stay with me, stay with me! 'No, no no no no no no no no no. Jane, don't! Now what happened with Moreau, Jane? - She couldn't help us with. - Yeah, so let's throw her off the building? - I didn't throw her! - That's throw her off the building! She was not the mission, Jane. The mission was to track the file back to Hendricks. Whose in the wind . Better have good news for me. Is he here? I got it. Talk to you later. I'll be there. But no one will be following me. Just make sure no one's following you. - And how the hell that the Russians find us? - Why do you ask me for? Because you are in communication. You in charge covering our tracks. We can not afford to make mistakes like that now, Benji. You are not a technician anymore. You're field agent. And you're just an analyst?! Right? Right? Who are you really, Brandt? - What do you ask me? - What am I asking? Let me see if I can put in another . How does an agent whose skills like that, end up an analyst? What if we all have secrets? tell me, Ethan. You tell me yours, I tell you mine. I'm all clear. I have friends in the region. Just sit tight. I'll send someone to get you out of here. What about Hendricks? What's the plan? The plan was first to stop him together. - And what would you gonna do? - Change the plan. Wait, that's it? What we gonna do? go after him alone? You can explain yourself, agent Brandt? I was in a protection detail in Croatia. Shadowing the assets, husband and wife. We were never suppose to know we were there. Whole things routines as in no crap. Three years in,we caught wind that this Serbian hit squad was after our couple. But my team had it under control, I knew that they would coming. But I couldn't shake this feeling that I should warn the couple somehow. I wanted to. find the way to let them know But you know, orders are oders, so I didn't. One day, the husband decides to leave the hotel and go for a run. So I followed him. And leave to men with the wife. When I get back, My guys were unconscious and the wife is gone. Local police found the body three days later. What was left over anyway. It was my last day on the field. I couldn't face another life or death situations after that. So, what happened with her husband? Never saw him again. Until two days ago, in Moscow, when the Secretary introduced me to Ethan Hunt. No, that's not what happened. She left him, you know. I heard that one too, Benji. But, unfortunately, I was there. Just like I was there when the Secretary got the phone call. .that Ethan was in custody for killing 6 Serbian nationals in cold blood. - ah, I'm sorry, shouldn't hit? - Yeah. Disavowed. Last thing I know . I am on the plane to Dubai. Wondering the old time . Do I tell him? How do I tell him? That I'm responsible. I could've warned him. I should've warned him. But I didn't. And she died. Sergei! Sergei, my friend! I told you, I was gathered here. Didn't I say? - I don't know it's him? - Yes, it's him. You trust me, I trust you, right? This is the guy! This is the guy, the one I told you about. So, we can take these things off. Sorry, he's a great guy, but he doesn't know you like I do, you understand. So, you work for American government? - And you are an arm stealer. - No, no! Sergei, Sergei! He's independent defense coordinator, right? That's right, very classic job. - Listen, he's a friend. - Those diamonds are for Bogdan. No, no, it's okay. He can have it. Whatever arrangements you made with my cousin, it's between you and him. You want something from me, you pay. You misunderstand. I am not buying. I'm selling. You selling? - Selling what? - The future. Yeah, I got all I need, thank you. Our countries are on the break of war. War is very good for business. Nuclear war? Go on. I'm looking for a man named Kurt Hendricks. You may know him as Cobalt. In this case, I think you know what he wants. I bet he even try to buy it from you at some point. - Go on. - He has a case, he has codes. But they're worthless without tactical satellite. I want to know where he get it. A man with information like that would be a potential terrorist. And to your governmentt, a potential terrorist is a terrorist. Do you help me? My friends become your friends. Sorry. I can not help you. I certainly can not tell you that, Russia quitely sold an obselete technical satellite. to a certain telecom in Mumbai. And who ever gave them that idea? An enterprising third party. Working on commission. Helping old friends, making new ones. - Can the satellite be shut down? - That would take a special skills then. You can not do it alone. - What's in the bags? - It's our gear. - How'd you get it? - Made a friend. - I'm glad we could help. - You can help now. - Look Ethan, before. - Whatever happened, happened. We still have a chance to clean this up. But we have to do it now, we have to do it together. Yeah sure, where are we going? India. - India? India? - Yeah, sure. - Okay. Love the jet! Where do you see the car? - Sidorov. - (in Russian) What are you doing, man? You were . I was worried for nothing. - I heard that you're looking for the U.S. - Continue. And launching devices were stolen yesterday. - Seriously? - I can help you find them. If you agree with that. Brij Nath. Brij Nath. Playboy. Multimedia tycoon. On the surface, this turn network as state of the art but its build time illegally acquired Cold War cast off including this, the Novosti satellite. Hendricks needs it to launch a nuclear strike, and we have to shut it down, before he gets that chance. And to do that we need to get the acess codes from him, one way or another. And if I don't . Something about intentional a hundred meters that could drop not being covered. Go figured. - How's the leg? - Still working. - You? - Healing. I'm fine, by the way. But I'm not actually sleeping per say, you know. Caught sweats, middle of the night. All these people are just happy and smiling, and they are completely oblivious, for the fact they were almost.vaporized. - and if I've been inferred. - Dumb luck? Was it? I mean, look, we were unprepared, in the dark, disavowed. The only thing that functioned properly on that mission, was this team. I don't know how we ended up together, but I'm glad we did. Your missions. Choose to accept them. all right . you know, I am in. Seriously, this is not as hard as any mission gonna rougher than the last one, is it? It's just . a bomb, is it? - Thanks, Ethan. - I thank you. - Agent Hunt. - Agent Carter. Brandt. I'm not picking up that phone Ethan, because I don't think you want me the field I know your wife is dead. I was there in Croatia. I was there for one reason. One. And I failed. It was my job to protect her. How do you know she's dead? - You killed those Serbians. - I had to get her back. You sent out to rankout prison. That was a sacrifice I'm willing to make. IMF suspected that Hendricks had people in rankout. And six dead Serbians was your idea of cover? I always not one, not Secretary never told me. I accepted the direct call prison mission one one condition. No one can know she's still alive. But . you telling me. When did you find out that I was in Croatia? - I put your file, after India. - Great. So, you had to fake your wife's death. As long as we're together, she can never be safe. It wasn't your job to protect her, Brandt. It's mine. - So we're good? - We're good. Good evening, Mr. Hunt. Now, an emerging terror organization known as the Syndicate, has control over entire drone fleet. Your targets: unknown. Your mission, should you choose to accept it. kucinggaul a.k.a NakashimaTadayoshi

we French know the truth:
The best food in the world
is made in France.
The best food in France
is made in Paris.
And the best food in Paris, some say,
is made by Chef Auguste Gusteau.
Gusteau's restaurant
is the toast of Paris,
booked five months in advance.
And his dazzling ascent
to the top of fine French cuisine
has made his competitors envious.
He is the youngest chef ever

Chef Gusteau's cookbook,
Anyone Can Cook!
climbed to the top of the bestseller list.
But not everyone
celebrates its success.
Amusing title, Anyone Can Cook!
What's even more amusing is that
Gusteau actuallyseems to believe it.
I, on the other hand,
take cooking seriously.
And, no, I don't thinkanyone can do it.
This is me.
I think it's apparent
I need to rethink my life a little bit.
What's my problem?
First of all, I'm a rat.
Which means life is hard.
And second, I have a highly developed

Flour, eggs, sugar, vanilla bean..
Oh! Smalltwist of lemon.
Whoa, you can smell all that?
You have a gift.
This is Emile, my brother.
He's easily impressed.

So you can smell ingredients?
So what?
This is my dad. He's never impressed.
He also happens to be
the leader of our clan.
So, what's wrong
with havinghighlydeveloped senses?
- Whoa, whoa, whoa! Don't eat that!
- What's going on here?
Turns out that funny smell
was rat poison.

my talent was useless.
I was feelingpretty good about my gift,
until Dad gave me a job.

Noble? We're thieves, Dad.

let's face it, garbage.
It isn't stealing if no one wants it.
If no one wants it,

why not steal the good stuff

My return to #LA after all of the delays of 2020 is beyond amazing. The first night I was thrilled to be able to celebrate the premiere of my dear friend, @dhernandezmusic’s gorgeous video for his latest release Ily (link in my bio) which was expertly choreographed by an equally dear friend @benjischwimmer. I am always so proud to even be a small part of David’s projects & I love to see the reactions of people seeing this for the first time & how it touches each person. It’s a special song & video for many reasons! Behind the Scenes of The End of Time (Part 32)
Excerpt from a Dec 2009 Reader’s Digest article by Benji Wilson:
When David Tennant sits down to watch a bit of telly this Christmas, he’ll have trouble avoiding himself.  Two Doctor Who Christmas specials, a film of his RSC Hamlet, appearances on QI and Never Mind the Buzzcocks, a collaboration with his one-time Doctor Who companion Catherine Tate... “And there’s other stuff.  I think after Christmas I’ll disappear for a while.  People will be sick of the sight of me.”
In one sense, of course, Tennant will be disappearing after Christmas - the Doctor Who specials are his last as the Doctor.
Once Christmas is over, though, Tennant will be the Doctor no more.  It’s hard to picture: even today, in a dimly lit club room and wearing understated dark jacket and jeans, he still has that whippet-like energy and capacity for mischief that just seem so... Doctorish.
“I don’t have any regrets.  Maybe it will be different once I’ve handed it over and somebody else is on. Maybe once it’s on TV I’ll have pangs of jealousy.”
He says he’s spoken to his successor several times, “but there’s nothing to say. We got in touch and I think we both thought we’d be able to exchange lots of ideas. But actually it’s none of my business how Matt does it and nothing I say can really help him. The thing we talked about was the other bits of your life that change and how disorientating that can be at first: the scrutiny your life comes under. You have to establish where your public and private life begin and end. And that sounds simpler than it is.”

How to get ahead in 2020, the startups that will boom, and inside Goldman Sachs' first investor day
Tumblr media
Hello! This is Matt Turner, executive editor at Business Insider, back from parental leave and excited to be picking up from where my excellent colleagues left off with this weekly email. It might already be February, but this past week was my first week of work in 2020. And so in that spirit, I wanted to start this email rounding up some stories that could help you get ahead in the year ahead. For example, Amazon, which briefly hit a $1 trillion valuation last week, is known for its ruthless interviewing process. Lauren Johnson talked to insiders about how to get a job there. Or would you rather work at Netflix? Ashley Rodriguez talked to its head of recruiting, former employees, and staffing experts to learn exactly what it takes to get hired in 2020. If you’re more interested in Wall Street than Silicon Valley, Bradley Saacks talked to the head of professional development at Steve Cohen’s Point72 about how to climb from fresh college grad to portfolio manager at the $16 billion hedge fund firm, And Rebecca Ungarino talked to six up-and-coming financial advisers at Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo, and Merrill Lynch who are managing big money and navigating a cutthroat industry. If finance isn’t your thing, perhaps you want to be a management consultant? Robin Madell put together a guide to getting a job at McKinsey, BCG, Bain, or Accenture, according to three headhunters for the top management consulting firms. Or if you’d rather be a lawyer, Elizabeth Kiefer has this guide on how to get in to Harvard Law School, according to the chief admissions officer, two students, and two admissions consultants. If all of that sounds far too corporate, Shoshy Ciment talked to a 19-year-old sneakerhead who says he made $350,000 in sales last year. He shared the budget spreadsheet he uses to maximize his profits at big events like Sneaker Con. And once you’re done working, you might want to retire to somewhere in Europe. Taylor Borden talked to a Utah couple who moved to Portugal in retirement in 2012, and got her hands on a breakdown of how they live on a $2,330 monthly budget. The recurring theme here of course is that these stories are designed to help you deliver on your dreams. I’d love to hear from you: What else should we be writing about in that vein? Speaking of big dreams, Julie Bort this week published her annual list of the 72 startups that will boom in 2020, according to VCs. As Julie explains her story, every year she asks VCs to name two startups: one that they or their firm invested in, and one where they have no financial ties or any other interest, but believe will do well. The result is a list of startups to watch in 2020 from the people who make their livings watching startups. Elsewhere in the startup space, Yeji Jesse Lee and Jeremy Berke profiled the top 14 venture-capital firms making deals in the cannabis industry, and where they’re looking to place their next bets. Benji Jones highlighted the top 21 clean-tech startups to watch that are set to transform the energy industry. And lastly, Callum Burroughs in London asked nine of the most prominent VC investors in European tech to pick out fintech startups they think will blow up in 2020. Here are the 15 they chose. That’s it for this week. As always, I’d love to hear from you. What would you like to see more of? Let me know. — Matt
Finance and Investing
Inside Goldman Sachs’ first investor day, where avocado toast and crab apples were served with tech talk, 3-year plans, and a surprising trading mea culpa When David Solomon stepped onto the stage at Goldman Sachs’ 200 West St. headquarters in New York on Wednesday wearing a dark suit and a silver tie, he looked out at a roomful of expectant analysts, investors, and journalists. Famed economist David Rosenberg explains why he puts the odds of a recession at 80%. He says the Fed is squarely to blame. When the Canadian economist David Rosenberg described the odds of the next US recession, a French expression came to mind: “les jeux sont faits.”
Tech, Telecoms, and Media
Oyo, the ‘jewel’ in SoftBank’s startup portfolio, just announced more layoffs in the US weeks after cutting thousands of jobs in India and China Oyo, the Indian budget-hotel startup backed by SoftBank, is laying off a significant number of its sales and support staff in the US, two sources directly familiar with the cuts told Business Insider. Leaked pitch deck shows how WarnerMedia plans to become the dominant media company by spending on HBO Max and adtech division Xandr AT&T has made no secret of its desire to lead the increasingly fractured media landscape through its newly acquired WarnerMedia entertainment properties and Xandr adtech division. Meet the 16 rising stars inside top PR agencies, who know everyone, have great reputations, and can spin anything PR seems to be more important – and complex – than ever.
Healthcare, Retail, and Transportation
Meet Wheel, the company quietly powering the doctors behind the companies who want to ship prescriptions like Viagra and birth control straight to your door The way people are going to the doctor is increasingly going online. Leaked McDonald’s marketing bible reveals how seriously the fast-food giant takes its reputation and why you’ll never see Ronald in a nightclub McDonald’s takes Ronald McDonald very seriously. SpaceX hopes to launch 15 million rocket flights a year with a business that could upend commercial aviation SpaceX is pushing to launch about two dozen missions into space this year. That would break its record of 21 launches in 2018.
Leadership and Entrepreneurship
A retired Navy SEAL commander of one of America’s most decorated special ops teams reveals how to have difficult conversations for getting underperforming teams back on track It would be easy to mistake Jocko Willink as the type of executive coach who would bark orders as if he were in the battlefield, and tear down underperforming employees without mercy. The 27-year-old cofounder of Museum of Ice Cream turned a viral trend into a $200 million experience-first company. Here’s how, and why she’s not afraid of copycats. Museum of Ice Cream – which, according to its website, provides “fun, multi-sensorial expressions of ice cream that cater to the appetites of our generation” – has in total welcomed more than 1.5 million guests to date across all of its locations from Los Angeles to New York. No one asked for this, but here are my favorite movies from childhood:
In no particular order or rating
1. The Ghost Next Door - Goosebumps
Tumblr media
The main character,Hannah, is suspicious of the new boy and his mother that move in across the street. After some weird encounters, she's convinced that they're not human. But, in a scary turn of events, SHE'S the ghost!
It's kinda morbid and actually really sad in retrospect, but I really liked this episode as a kid, I've always had a love for ghost stories.
2. Barbie Fariytopia: Mermadia
Tumblr media
This is the 2nd installment in the Fairytopia series. Their protagonist is Elina, a fairy born without wings, who fights to save her people from an evil enchantress. After her victory she is given her own wings by their ruler. The second movie is filled with Mermaids, and Fairys, and bravery , and all kinds of happy/ feel-good things!!
3. Marvelous Musical Mansion - Wee Sing
Tumblr media
This movie was made by the production company "Wee Sing", who are/were based out of Washington / Oregon. It stars two brothers , Alex and Benji, and their friend and neighbor Kelly. They are picked up by the boy's Anut Annabella to visit their uncle Rubato at his Mysterious, Musical mansion. When things vanish overnight inside the locked house, they all must work together to solve the mystery!
I've always had a love for mysteries and I think that this movie really had a large part in that. Fare warning it is a musical, and the songs are great. It's definitely got the highest production value of all the movies that Wee Sing made. I would 100% recommend this to anyone with kids under 10, or anyone really, if you don't mind that it's made for small children. I still really love it, even as an adult!
4. The Great Mouse Detective - Disney
Tumblr media
An obvious homage to Sherlock Holmes, this Disney movie stars "Basil of Bakerstreet" , a standoff-ish detective who works with his new friend "Dr. David q. Dawson" to help a little girl get her father back from the evil "Professor Rattigan ".
My dad raised me on Sherlock Holmes, so this movie holds a very special place in my heart. It's one of the most underrated Disney movies hands down. And it stars Vincent Price as the villain, what more could you possibly want!!
5. Scooby Doo Zombie Island/ Lochness Monster
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
The titles are pretty self explanatory, so I won't do a summary of them both.
I love Zombie Island now, as an adult, but it scared the ever loving CRAP out of me as a kid. Like, couldn't be in the same room when the zombies showed up, kind of scared. It's crazy well animated and is , I believe, the first Scooby Doo movie where the monsters are actually REAL.
Lochness Monster has a bomb ass sound track and is suuuper atmospheric. 10/10 would recommend
I know most people won't see this, if any, but I really loved these movies as a kid , even still as a grown up, and I wanted to get them out there to celebrate 2020! Really leaving childhood behind to move on to bigger things, but I'll always be a kid at heart.
I hope you guys agree or check these out if you've never seen them . Hit me up if you wanna reminisce w/ me, I'm always ready!
